This inland ecological island has a 47kilometre fence around it to help threatened species to prosper and multiply in this restored ecosystem. The aim is simple, to re-introduce threatened species and plants and build a sustainable platform for them to grow. With over 3400 hectares to care for, this amazing region is a fantastic place to take a guided tour to understand more about how we need to create a healthy balance with nature before it’s too late.
There’s so much to see and do in and around Hamilton, that this is a great place to set yourself up in New Zealand for your whole trip.
